The Studio PlaybookVol. 01 · Windsor, ON

How I actually
build things.

Five chapters. No marketing puff. This is the operating system every Gill WebWorks project runs on — read it in three minutes, hold me to it forever.

  1. I
    Chapter 1

    Scope is a promise

Every project starts with one conversation, one page of notes, and one number.

I do not sell hours; I sell an outcome. Before a line of code is written we agree on what the site must do, what it must not do, and what "done" looks like. If the scope grows, the price grows with it — in writing, before we begin. There are no invoices you did not see coming.

  2. II
    Chapter 2

    Design is the argument

A layout is a claim about what your customer should look at first, second, third.

Fonts, spacing, colour, and copy all point at the next action — a call, a booking, a purchase. If a section does not move that argument forward, it comes out. Beauty is a byproduct of that clarity, not its opposite.

  3. III
    Chapter 3

    Speed is respect

A site that loads in a second respects a visitor more than any hero video ever will.

Every build is measured on a mid-tier phone on a shaky connection, not on my laptop. Images are compressed, fonts are subset, scripts are trimmed. The number that matters is not "looks fast" — it is Largest Contentful Paint under 1.5 seconds.

  4. IV
    Chapter 4

    Ownership, always

You leave with the keys — not a leash.

Your domain, your hosting, your code, your content. No proprietary page builder holding your business hostage. Edit text and images through a plain admin, or hand the whole repo to any developer on earth. That is a feature, not a bug.

  5. V
    Chapter 5

    One point of contact

You talk to the person building the thing.

No account manager reading a script. No junior taking notes. Questions get answered the same day, revisions land the next morning, and after launch I stay on for thirty days of free tweaks — because a site is not shipped until it is earning.
